Martha M. McDermott


Hampton – Martha M. McDermott, 38, of Hampton, died January 11, 2012.

She was born in Portsmouth September 20, 1973 the daughter of Edward J. and Nan (McCann) McDermott of Hampton.

Raised in Hampton, Martha graduated from Winnacunnet High School with the Class of 1991.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in communications disorders from the University of New Hampshire in 2000 and her Master of Science degree in communications disorders from the University of Redlands in California in 2003.

In June of 2003 she married Kris Broderick of Haverhill, MA and together in March of 2011 they had a child named Clayton Edward Broderick.

Martha was employed as a Speech Pathologist specializing in Gerontology speech therapy working in California and Texas before returning to Hampton.

In addition to her parents, she leaves her son, Clayton Edward Broderick, two sisters, Ellen  McDermott and her partner Bridget Sciales of New York, NY, Susan Waskelis and her husband Todd of Hampton and two nieces, Hannah and Alison Waskelis.

Visiting hours were January 15, 2012 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.  A mass of Christian burial was celebrated  January 16, 2012 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton.  Interment will be private.  Family flowers only.  If desired, donations may be made to either, A Safe Place, 6 Greenleaf Woods, Ste. 101, Portsmouth, NH  03801 or St. Vincent de Paul Society, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH  03842.
