LeRoy D. Souther

Seabrook – LeRoy D. “Roy” Souther, 65, of Seabrook, died Monday December 21, 2009 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport after a period of failing health.

He was born October 25, 1944 in Newburyport the son of the late Annie Souther and Chester Knowles.

Roy was a lifelong resident of Seabrook and was employed by Dow Seafood Inc. for nearly 25 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Sons of the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post 70 serving as the Commander for 25 continuous years.  He was also a member of the Seabrook Fireman’s Association, was and avid hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler and also enjoyed trap shooting, fly fishing, cribbage, motorcycle riding and his trips to Maryland.

He shared 23 years of marriage with his wife Paula E. (Perkins) Souther of Seabrook.

In addition to his wife, family members include his son, Paul Souther of Eaton, NH, his daughter, Debbie Souther-Eaton of Seabrook, two stepsons, Keith Pelletier of Shirley, MA, Bobby Pelletier of Hampton, six grandchildren, Tashia, Kaitlyn and Paul Souther, Jr., Miryah Eaton, Ryan and Keith Pelletier, Jr., five great grandchildren, Jayleigh, James and Jason DiTucci, Jr., Keiyani and Yoryi Mejea Jr.

The family received friends December 28, 2009 at the residence of his daughter, 249 South Main Street, Seabrook.  Graveside services were held at  December 29, 2009 in the Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.  Following the services friends gathered once again at the residence of his daughter. The family suggests donations to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.  Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
