John R. Morley

Exeter - John R. Morley, 73, of Exeter, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Exeter Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Hill) Morley. Also lovingly known as Honey, Paw, Paw Thunder, Papa John and Shameless Moose, John had a unique and witty personality that was often misunderstood. John loved to make music, dabbled in various photography and art projects and also spent time writing unique “little ditties” that made us all laugh. By far the laugh John shared at his own humor, was the sincerest laugh of all. Born in Lynn, MA, on August 28, 1951, John was the son of the late Byron and Edith Morley. Raised and educated in Swampscott, MA, John attended Swampscott High School and graduated in 1969. John worked in the human service field, lovingly caring for “his guys” at Turning Point in Salem, Mass, up until his retirement in 2020. We called this his “pass into heaven”, although John’s love for Jesus was something he boasted openly. He deeply loved his wife Kathy and they spent many years in blissful marriage. Soon after they married in 1995, they were ecstatic to purchase their first home in Exeter, a single wide manufactured home, and then eventually a brand new “double wide”. His home still impressed him, right up until his final days, he could be seen looking around their home, admiring everything they owned, and rejoicing in the love that everything they shared came from. John is survived by his wife, Kathleen J. (Hill) Morley, of Exeter, his stepsons, William E. Wright and his wife Jeanee of Exeter, and John Wright and his wife Lainey of Woburn, MA. He is also survived by his 8 step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his brother Bruce. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember John for a period of visitation on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A memorial service will take place in the funeral home immediately following the visitation.
