Ardith J. Polletta

East Kingston - Ardith June (Stone) Polletta, 81 of East Kingston, died on January 18th, 2020 after a period of declining health. Ardith was born on June 18th, 1938 in Newburyport, MA; the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Plunkett) Stone. She graduated from Amesbury High School in 1956 and Fitchburg State College in 1960 with a teaching degree in Special Education. She taught children who greatly benefitted from her kind heart and patient nature. On June 30th, 1962 she married Captain Michael P. Polletta and concentrated all her love and energies to caring for Mike and their two sons Michael and Jonathan. She and Mike restored their home; The Greeley Tavern originally built in 1750, over a period of 20 years. It was truly a labor of love. The home was full of affection and ongoing projects. Her family was her greatest source of pride. She never missed an opportunity to tell friends what her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids were up to; she loved us all fiercely. We are blessed to know nothing went unsaid in her passing. Ardith was kind, gentle and polite. She loved to garden, research genealogy, and knew a ridiculous amount of facts about local and English history. She enjoyed traveling, she was a life-long learner, loved visiting museums and was a voracious reader. In her later years she took much joy in watching ice skating competitions on the Ice Network. She was always thoughtful of those around her and was generous to a fault. Over the years many people have been the recipient of her generous sprit. She served as the East Kingston, NH librarian for many years; a job she adored. Ardith was predeceased by her loving husband Michael, her parents Harold and Dorothy and an infant sister Dorothy. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Stone) Van Amburgh. Son; Michael A. and Tracy (Clooney) Polletta. Michael’s daughters and their families - Michelle (Polletta), Nick Pizzurro and their son Vincent, Courtney (Polletta) and JR Beaulieu. Tracy’s daughter Nicole (Casella) and Joseph Williams and their children; Trenton, Kaleb, Emily and Lily. Son; Jonathan E. And Marcy (Strohecker) Polletta and their children Dominic and Joseph. Additionally, survived by her sister-in-law Loretta Stuart and many nieces and nephews. We will all miss her dearly. “The Nana” was a gift to us all.
