Barbara D. Kennedy

Rye - Barbara Kennedy (DeNute) of Rye, NH passed away on October 15, 2025, peacefully in her sleep at home. She was born on August 31, 1928, in Manchester, NH and resided there until she moved to her beach house in Rye, NH full time in 2018. She had spent summers there with her family and entertaining many of her relatives and friends. Barbara had a great life enjoying all that life offered. She went to Manchester West High School and then graduated from Mount St Mary’s College. She went into teaching after graduation. She only true love, Angus Kennedy, from the Queens, NYC. They married and started their family. Barbara stayed home to care for her family until she went back to teaching in the Manchester School System from where she retired. Her marriage to Angus was another wonderful time. They laughed, played golf, and otherwise had a great time with their family and friends. Unfortunately, Angus died at 52 years old and Barbara was a young widow. That did not stop her. She had many great friends, kept active, travelled to Florida and Europe. Barbara’s parents bought beach cottages back in 1955 and Barbara and all of her family and friends had a great time there with parties, cookouts, and memorable times for all. Rye beach was an integral part of her life. Barbara was a devout catholic attending church many years on a daily basis. She was predeceased by her husband, Angus Kennedy 1-5-1981, Her son Thomas Angus Kennedy on 8-24-2013 and her parents Hector DeNute and Marion DeNute (Harlan). She is survived by her two son’s, Donald Angus Kennedy (Dottie) and Richard Angus Kennedy (Nancy). She was blessed with grandchildren Andrew M. Kennedy (Lauren), Jessica K. Svirsky (Justin), Kelsey K. Beliveau (Andrew)and great-grandchildren Amelia and Addalyn Svirsky. She was fortunate to spend lots of quality time with all of them. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Barbara for a period of visitation on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home - Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, 815 Central Road, Rye Beach, NH 03871. Burial will be private and Barbara will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford.
