Barbara A. Verity

Barbara Ann Verity (Rich) age 86, of Seabrook Beach, NH, died at her home on Wednesday, March 2nd, surrounded by her family members. Barbara was born on October 12th, 1935 in Somerville, MA and was the daughter of the late Warren and Estelle (Zwicker) Rich. Barbara adored her parents and grew up as an only child. She was the center of her parents’ world. Some of her favorite memories were of her mother’s cooking and of going to all of the Red Sox home games with her dad. Barbara was a proud graduate of Somerville High School. In her teen years she was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls and National Honors Society. Throughout her life, she worked alongside her husband, Earl, in his plumbing and real estate businesses. She was the true backbone of these operations, ensuring that everything ran smoothly all while raising her three children. Barbara loved traveling and experiencing new places, especially throughout Europe and Canada, along with special places within the US, including Key West, Clearwater Beach, New York City, Bar Harbor, and San Francisco. She was an expert on all things restaurants and could tell you where to find the best ones, regardless of your destination. She also had many fond memories of bringing her family to plays, especially at the Amesbury Playhouse, as well as attending concerts by Anne Murray and Kenny Rogers. Above all else, Barbara’s favorite role in life was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, making sure they all got their start in life and teaching many lessons about the importance of giving back and showing gratitude. She loved her family and treasured cookouts and gatherings at Seabrook Beach. Barbara was truly one of the strongest people we knew. We were in awe of her resilience through multiple health and everyday challenges that came her way. She was also the most selfless and giving person in our lives. She opened her heart to anyone in need and was always the first person to step up and offer a helping hand. Her presence and impact will be greatly missed in this world. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Earl Verity, after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her three children, Earl Verity, Jr. of Seabrook, NH, Robin Bragger of Seabrook, NH, and Deane Verity of Hampton, NH, along with her daughter-in-law, Karen Verity of Hampton, NH. Barbara or “Nana” will be remembered by her five grandchildren, Joshua Verity of Hampton, NH, Ashley Moore and her husband, Matthew, of Haverhill, MA, Shane Verity and his wife, Amanda of Hampton, NH, Marc Verity of Denver, CO, and Morgan Bragger of Exeter, NH. Barbara would light up at the sight of her six great-grandchildren, Adam, Lillian, Colton, Delilah, Everett, and Madison. She also leaves behind her three sisters-in-law, Ruthie Matckie, Lynda Verity, and Mary-Jo Verity, along with many nieces and nephews. The family also wants to acknowledge the amazing caregivers who loved and cared for Barbara during her final months. Services to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held privately in the company of close family and friends. In lieu of traditional remembrances, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the United Methodist Church, at 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH in Barbara’s name.
