Beverly A. Brissette

Stratham – Beverly Ann Brissette, 80, of Stratham, NH and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2021 after complications arising from a long and courageous battle with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Bev was born in Cambridge, MA on September 4, 1940 to the late George and Corinne (Moynihan) Buckley. Raised in Arlington, MA she attended Saint Clements High School, and Arlington High School where she graduated with the Class of 1958. After graduation, Bev started her career as an Executive Secretary for John Hancock Insurance Co., in Boston, MA where she worked for several years. She met her true love and husband of 59 years, Robert E. Brissette in 1959 at a local dance; one of their favorite pastimes. They married in 1962 upon his return from active service with the United States Coast Guard. They started a family and Bev became a stay-at-home Mom to their daughter, Michelle. As Bob’s engineering career took off, they began to travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe. In the early eighties, Bev started her second career as an Editorial Assistant for Addison-Wesley Publishing Co., of Reading, MA, where she worked for the next 20 years, and retired from in 2002. She spent her later years devoting herself to her family and enjoying all that life in New England had to offer. Beverly was kindhearted and she never spoke a bad word about anyone. She enjoyed wintering at Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club in Naples, FL, where she could often be found playing Dominoes and Mahjong. She possessed a deep love and appreciation for nature, spending countless spring and summer hours preparing her gardens. She was also an avid bird watcher; bluebirds were her favorite. She was a patron of the arts and of New England culture, introducing her grandchildren to Boston’s history, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood, countless museums, theaters, and time spent by the ocean, most notably Kennebunkport and Cape Cod. She is survived by her husband Robert, their daughter, Michelle Sullivan, and her husband Danny of Newfields, NH; granddaughter, Jessica McIntyre, her husband Joey, and great-granddaughter Juliette of Newmarket, NH; and grandson, Joshua Sullivan and his wife Alison of Amesbury, MA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Carol Paquette, and her husband Rudy. Visiting hours will be from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at St. Michael’s Parish, 9 Lincoln Street, Exeter, NH 03833. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of traditional remembrances, donations may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
