Brewster (Bruce) Adams Thorburn Jr.

Hampton- Brewster Adams Thorburn Jr., Age 87, passed away on February 1st, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Born at home in Brighton MA, on September 23, 1936, he was the son of Brewster Adams Thorburn and Mildred (Baggs) Thorburn. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol A. (Medieros) Thorburn who passed away in May 2015. They had been married 50 years. Bruce, (as he preferred), was raised in Boston and attended Boston Technical High School. Then went on to Franklin Institute, Harvard University, Northeastern University then graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1964. He was a veteran of the US Army and was called to serve during The Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Bruce worked for many corporations including American Steele and Aluminum, High Voltage Engineering Corporation, Varian Corporation and Applied Materials Corporation, ending his career with Nissin High Voltage Corporation of America. Bruce loved that, “working with these companies has allowed me to travel all over the USA, Europe and Japan, a great experience.” He worked up until spring of 2023, an achievement of which he was immensely proud. Bruce was extremely handy! There was nothing he couldn’t fix and loved a home project. In his younger days, he loved building and racing cars. There were many family car rides that we exclaimed as we held on for dear life, “Jackie Stewart has taken the family for a ride!” Bruce is survived and deeply missed by his two loving daughters, Jennifer Thorburn of Lowell, MA and Kimberly (Thorburn) Bohenko and her husband Mark Bohenko of Westford, MA. In Addition, Bruce is survived by his Grandchildren Gannon, Tesslily, Quentin Adams, Sophia and Alexandra. He is also survived by his sister Cherie (Thorburn) Keniston of Norton, MA. and predeceased by his sister Barbara (Thorburn) Lasker and her husband Louis Lasker of Cumberland, RI. In addition to his family, he is survived by his loyal and loving companion of 8 years, Jenny Iverson of Hampton, NH. They enjoyed spending time together especially, dinner and a “good Manhattan” at many local establishments along the Seacoast. Their favorite being Friday nights at the Galley Hatch in Hampton. His family would like to thank the many wonderful hospice workers of both Ascend Hospice of MA and Cornerstone VNA of NH and his loyal caregivers as well. At Bruce’s request, a small gathering will take place in the summer. “I feel lucky to have lived a long full life, but we all come to the end sooner or later…I think just a simple memorial service, and ashes put into the ocean at North Beach on a good day for sun and surf” -Bruce
