Catherine E. Murphy

Hampton – Catherine E. Murphy, 98, of Hampton, formerly of Melrose, MA passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019 peacefully at her home with her daughters by her side. She was born in South Boston, MA June 14, 1921 the oldest of eight children to the late Leon E. and Mary R. (Fay) Winslow. A longtime Melrose resident, Catherine as a Navy wife also lived in Maryland and several locations in the Malden Massachusetts area. She had resided in Hampton since 2013 where she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish. She was a former communicant of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Melrose where she also played the organ. Throughout her life she had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. She also was an avid reader and loved her Patriots and Red Sox. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Murphy and was also predeceased by her daughter Patricia Cascio, her grandson Bryan Cascio and 6 of her brothers and sisters,. Family members include two daughters, Margaret “Peg” Murphy with whom she resided, Kathleen Hersey and her husband Dennis all of Hampton, her son-in -law Vincent Cascio of Billerica MA, her brother Robert Winslow and his wife Shirley of Las Vegas, NV, her grandchildren Sandra Hersey of Malden MA, Allison and Eamon LeBlanc of Salisbury MA, Lindsey Hersey and Fred Steeves of South Portland ME, Jennifer and Todd MacIsaac of Woburn MA, Stephen Cascio of Scarborough ME, Lauren and Jason Finoia of Gorham ME, and Michael and Colleen Casio of North Billerica MA; 14 great grandchildren Emma, Owen, Riley, Clara, Braelyn, Gracie, Mikey, Kayleigh, Jackson, Janey, Katey, Everly, Lincoln, Ronan, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 1-4 PM Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
