Christopher Raymond Gilroy

Exeter - It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of Christopher R. Gilroy, during the late evening of Tuesday June 23, 2026. He was 46 years of age and had many extraordinary accomplishments during his years of life. He was a husband to Jen, a son to Raymond, big brother to Katie & Brendon, and a friend to many. Chris grew up in Woburn, MA and graduated from Woburn High School. Over the years he worked his way through different educational establishments and earned many degrees and certificates and landed with a Masters degree from Franklin Pierce. Chris was a dedicated and hard-working person when it came to protecting others. He started his long-standing law enforcement career as an auxiliary officer for Somerville, MA in his late teens. He worked briefly as a corrections officer for county jail in NH. He protected the Federal reserve in Massachusetts before starting part-time as an officer for the police department in Hampton, NH. Often working several part-time jobs simultaneously. He started full-time with the Hampton Police Department in 2001 and graduated with the 127th NH Police Academy in 2002. During his tenure at HPD, he spent many years on Patrol, many consecutively on the mid-night shift. He was an FTO and was able to model, teach, and coach newer colleagues joining the department. He was promoted to the detectives division where he learned and performed accident reconstruction. He worked alongside Homeland Security (HSI) to save lives of those who were survivors of Human Trafficking. He also supported our most vulnerable population of children by his extensive role with the NH Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). Chris retired from law enforcement in 2017. He humbly sacrificed so much of himself for so many. As of most recent, Chris was a professor and taught cyber security, digital forensics and AI classes for NEC as well as a local community college in years past. He was a magnificent instructor, teacher, and natural born leader. He developed and provided training curriculum for law enforcement over the last several years. This gave him great pride to continue to share his knowledge and experience to those who continue to support and protect our local communities of NH. He left a glorious imprint on this earth by helping and supporting others. May he and his many accomplishments be recognized, embraced, and never forgotten! Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Chris for a period of visitation on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A memorial service will take place immediately following the visitation at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
