Dominic Roman White

Portsmouth - Dominic Roman White, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away tragically on July 19, 2024. Despite his short time on this earth, Dominic brought joy even in the face of sadness. Dominic was born on April 21, 2005, in Exeter, NH, the exact image of his late father, Darwin White, who passed away in 2015 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. The family has yet to fully overcome the grief of Darwin's loss, and now they face the unimaginable pain of losing Dominic. From an early age, Dominic’s sensitivity and curiosity were evident. As a baby, he found comfort in being held close, and as soon as he could stand, he jumped; as soon as he could walk, he ran. He loved music and dancing, often exhausting himself before settling into enchanted afternoon naps. In preschool, Dominic's genuine empathy for others was clear. His family discovered that he shared his father's love for water, spending hours playing in the tub with his pirate ship and later, delighting in the family's in-ground pool. This naturally became his happy place, where many fond memories were created during summertime pool parties. Growing up in Rye, Dominic participated in Rye recreational sports alongside his older sister, Jenea, fostering strong friendships and a deep sense of community. Video games became a household staple after the introduction of PlayStation 3 in 2009, and Dominic cherished the time spent bonding with his father over their shared enthusiasm for gaming. Dominic shared a passion for history with his mother, Jessica, and together they watched many famous movies and documentaries over the years. She will forever miss their shared conversations during Q&A time over modern and military history. After the passing of his father, Dominic's zest for life dimmed, but he remained smart, resourceful, and determined. As he grew, he developed a tougher personality, building walls to protect his fragile self. Despite his fierce naivety, Dominic always bounced back from adversity. He longed for the closeness he had known as a baby and missed the simple pleasures of family life, something irreplaceable that he struggled to reconcile with the new normal. In January 2021, Dominic and his family moved to Portsmouth, ending a bittersweet chapter in their lives. He embraced the change, taking full advantage of everything within walking distance, and was once again on the go, just as he had been as a baby. After graduating high school in 2023, Dominic took a gap year, knowing that the traditional college path wasn't for him. Instead, he was drawn to the trades, passionate about the idea of underwater welding—a skill he naturally acquired from his father’s love of diving. Dominic is survived by his loving mother Jessica White and his cherished sister, Jenéa of Portsmouth. He also leaves behind his aunt Jennette Lofton and her husband Towan Lofton, his cousins Jordan and Jamyah Lofton all from Maryland, his cousin Jordan White- Leonard and her Husband Austin Leonard of Tampa, FL, along with their son Maxim Leonard, his mother’s cousin Paul Kerivan and his wife Heidi Kerivan of York, Maine, and their two daughters, Kylie and Grace Kerivan, and his grandfather, Charles Murray of Sanbornville, NH. He also leaves many friends he made and kept while living in Florida for six months, many close and longtime friends from Rye and the small circle of tight friendships he developed since living in Portsmouth. Dominic had many plans and dreams, and he would have made those dreams come true. He did not choose to leave this world- He loved his family deeply, and they loved him just as fiercely. His memory will be forever cherished by all who knew him. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, August 9, 2024, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Crematory, Hampton. From his mother Jessica, Remember, Dominic had plans and goals, and was loved immensely! He did not want to leave this world. Life is short, life is fragile. Now, Dominic is finally at rest. Please hold him close, as I do, in your mind and in your spirit. Let us find, and encourage within ourselves, within society, the gifts that make us special. Every human need that. He or she belongs as a valued member, to feel appreciated and honored by others. Kindness is free. Let us lead by example. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. I love you, my son. I brought you into this world, and I had to watch you leave. Rest easy with Daddy, until I see you again.
