Douglas W. Lamprey

Hampton - Douglas W. Lamprey, 59, of Hampton, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, December 5, 2022. He was born in Exeter N.H., May 5, 1963, a son of B. Joanne (McLane) Lamprey and the late David J. Lamprey Sr. Doug graduated from Winnacunnet High School, Class of 1981. He worked many years for his grandfather, D. Morris Lamprey, on the farm at 63 Atlantic Avenue, North Hampton, NH and subsequently in the family business, Lamprey Brother’s Inc. in North Hampton. He spent the last 11 years working for Bosch Thermotechnology in Londonderry, NH as a Sr. HVAC Field Specialist where he enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Canada solving complicated HVAC problems. He shared 29 years of marriage with his wife Jo (Richardson) Lamprey. Doug and Jo have 3 wonderful children Krista Lamprey of Raleigh, NC, Michael Lamprey of Hampton, NH, and Marisa Lamprey of Hampton, NH. In addition to his wife and children, family members include 3 siblings (brothers), David J. Lamprey and his wife Kay, Donald M. Lamprey and his wife Sue; all of Hampton, (sister) Debra L. Whitten and her husband Kerry of North Hampton. Doug also has 11 nieces and nephews. Those closest to Doug knew he had the biggest heart that he would reveal in unexpected ways. He enjoyed our large family gatherings for holidays and special occasions. He always arrived with a smile and jolly laugh. He sang traditional Christmas Eve Carols the loudest and he was the first in the Lamprey family to earn the title Fun Uncle Doug, sometimes to the dismay of his sister and sisters-in-law by gifting the loudest toys and creating mischief. Doug had a special mechanical and artistic mind from an early age, adopting the skillful trades of his ancestors. Doug and Jo spent a year in 1995 building their home, which he spent his free time maintaining and improving upon year after year. He spent many hours in his workshop building furniture for his family, He enjoyed helping his children with school projects where he always went over the top. He was active in high school sports (and shenanigans) and was a standout hockey goalie. He participated in band and theatre as a trombone player. Doug was also a passionate sports fan for all the Boston Pro teams- particularly the Patriots and the Bruins, attending many games over the years including Super Bowl XXXVIII. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, December 12, 2022 in the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd, Hampton. Services will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Habitat for Humanity at https://www.habitat.org/donate/ or to a charity of your choosing.
