Elaine Willis Martin

Hampton, NH - Elaine Willis Martin, 63, of Hampton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Elkton, MD on January 3, 1951 she was a daughter of the late James Walbert and Carolyn (Newnan) Willis. She graduated from Galena High School, Galena, MD in 1969; Macqueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing, Easton, MD in 1972; Chesapeake College, Wye Mills, MD with an AA degree; Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD with a BSA degree; University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD with MSN degree in Child Psychiatric Nursing; and SUNY at Buffalo, NY with Post Graduate in P.N.P. She had a passion for learning and furthering her education in the care of children. Elaine was a member of First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls, where she sang in the choir, participated in and co-led a bible study group, and served as an interim deacon. She was a member of the Boston Medical Center Ovarian Support Group. She participated in “Turning The Tide” ovarian cancer retreat in Noblebore, ME, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at Dana-Faber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA and the “Weekend of Hope” in Stowe, VT. She is survived by her husband Stanley Martin; children, Greg Jones and wife Michelle, Brooks Martin and wife Sara, Lori Martin and fiancé Codie McNeil, Chad Martin and Lisa LaFleur Martin; grandchildren, Tyler, Kalayah, Hannah, Jace, Alexis, Bryanah, Alyssa, and Briley; sister Mona Willis; sister-in-law Carol Rantz and husband KW; brother-in-law Stephen Martin; nieces and nephews, James Glendening, Ryan Rantz and wife Emily, Jameson Rantz and wife Jamie, Kyle Martin, Aaron Martin and wife Reta; five great-nieces and nephews; many dear friends who stood by her throughout her battle with cancer and a very special Yorkshire terrier (Yorkie) named Hannah. The family wishes to extend a grateful thank you to Dr. Ursula Matulonis and the staff at the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute and the Merrimack Valley Hospice nurses and staff for their care of Elaine. Visitation will be held from 12 PM – 2 PM Friday, August 29, 2014 in the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, 3 Lincoln Avenue, Hampton Falls. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
