Florence K. Collins

Hampton – Florence Kathleen Collins, 88, of Hampton passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in Andover, MA. She was born in Lawrence, MA on April 25, 1933, the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Katherine F. (Gallagher) McDuffie. Florence shared over 40 years of wonderful marriage with her late husband, Paul S. Collins who passed in 1998. Florence was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree from Merrimack College. Florence was a devoted wife and mother, and caring for her family was always her top priority. She was a substitute teacher in the 1970s before taking a full-time teaching position at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence. Florence served as Science Department Chairperson and later earned her Master’s Degree from Salem State College. She moved from North Andover, MA to Hampton following her retirement in 1996. While in Hampton, Florence was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and was an active participant with the church bible study program. She was an avid reader and a member of the Lane Memorial Library book club. Florence is survived by her daughters, Patricia Collins of Haverhill, MA, Kathleen Collins of Hampton and her significant other Randall “Skip” Tomb, Paula Collins of Watertown, MA and Jill Birch of Hampton. She also leaves her grandchildren, Carly Birch, Thomas Birch, and her grand-dog Lila. She is further survived by her dear cousin Elaine Galarneau and her family. The family would like to thank her caregivers Liz, Jennifer, the staff at Bear Mountain Andover and Compassus Hospice. Visiting hours will be held from 5 – 7 PM on Monday, April 25, 2022 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be beside her beloved Paul in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Andover, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, 5 Williams Street, Hampton NH 03842.
