James W. Wright

Seabrook Beach, NH – James W. Wright, Sr., 93, of Seabrook Beach, and formerly of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA. He was born in Lawrence on March 27, 1929, son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Barrett) Wright. Jim and his late wife Lillian (Hurley) Wright who predeceased him in 2020 shared over 69 wonderful years of marriage together. Jim was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Central Catholic High School with the Class of 1946 where he excelled in sports, was co-captain of the football team and inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Jim enlisted with the US Marine Corps after high school at age 17 and was a veteran of WW II. He graduated from Boston College in 1953. He was employed as a senior engineer with Western Electric, later AT&T, of North Andover, MA retiring in 1986 with 33 years of service. Jim loved the beach and spent his summers with his wife Lillian at Seabrook beach and winters in Indialantic, FL always enjoying the company of his family and family was a big part of Jim's life. Jim’s favorite pastime was golf, playing in many different leagues, spending many hours on the golf course. He also enjoyed hiking the many 4000 footers in the White Mountains and skiing. He is survived by his five children, Sharon M. Webb of Haverhill, MA, Nancy E. Sidie and her husband Richard of Haverhill, MA, James W. Wright, Jr. and his wife Carol of Methuen, MA, Jeffrey J. Wright of North Hampton, NH, and Lynne C. Maslanka and her husband, Mark of Northborough, MA. He also leaves his grandchildren, Shannon M. Schultz, Nicholas J. Sidie, James P. Webb, Melissa A. Young, Kristen L. Folk, Lauren E. Webb, Adam J. Wright, Brittany L. Wright, Mitchel W. Maslanka, and Cole J. Maslanka, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Garrett M. Webb, his son-in-law, John J. Webb, his brother John Wright and sister Rosemary Maloney. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, December 15, 2022 in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Mission Church, 1 Lowell Street, Seabrook. Burial will follow at 12:45 PM in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by clicking here to the Leukemia /Lymphoma Society or by mail to LLS Donor Services P.O.
