Jean R. Denny

Rye – Jean R. Denny, 84, of Rye, formerly longtime resident of Hampton, died peacefully Friday, April 3, 2015 at Webster at Rye. She was born in Bangor, ME September 13, 1930 a daughter of the late Myah S. and Mary (Harrington) Roddon. She spent her early years in Bangor before moving back to Hampton, where she graduated from Hampton Academy. Following High School she started her career in high fashion before meeting her future husband and devoting her life to raising her family. Jean was an avid reader who enjoyed volunteering at various school libraries throughout the Seacoast. She loved being around family, especially her daughter Karen who was her caregiver to the end. To her dear grandchildren she was affectionately called Grandmama. They looked forward to many beach adventures with her along the rocky coast. Jean had a strong Catholic faith for which she relied on to help guide her through life. Family members include her daughters, Karen T. Gaston and her husband Ron, of Sugar Grove, IL, Greta E. Denny of St. Petersburg, FL; son Christopher G. Denny; grandchildren, Jennifer Runz and her husband Christopher, Dina Gaston, January Dolata and her husband Michael, Brandon Praskach and his wife Ana, Sean Patrick Gaston, Ian Gaston and Alec Gaston; great grandchildren, Ava and Alivia Runz, Cailey and Bryn Dolata and twins Oliver and Alexander Praskach; brother Daniel Marshall; sister Carol Ann Block and her husband Fred and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her companion of 25 years Donald J. Levesque; brother Johnny Roddon and sisters, Nancy Curtis and Mary Jane Marble. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Webster at Rye for all their kind and compassionate care. Visiting hours will be from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:30 P.M. immediately following the visitation in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will follow in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be sent to Webster at Rye, 795 Washington Road, Rye, New Hampshire 03870.
