John Brown Sr.

Exeter - John Brown Sr., 78, of Exeter, died surrounded by his loving family at home on September 19, 2022. John “Johnny Cake”, the devoted son of the late Daniel F. and Harriet (McDonald) Brown, was born at home on September 6, 1944, in Newburyport, Massachusetts. John was a hard worker and from a young age worked in and around the Newburyport area for most of his life. He was a dedicated employee and enjoyed 30 plus years of employment at Starensier Incorporated and 10 years at Anna Jaques Hospital. During that time, he was also the custodian at his church, Hampton United Methodist Church. Additionally, he owned and operated a successful landscaping company named B&B Lawn Services. John will be fondly remembered for his dancing at weddings and parties, his love of a good poker game, haggling for the best price (of anything), working in his yard, his handsome looks, and wonderful head of hair. At his core John was a family man with a love that knew no bounds. This was reflected in his many names, Dad, Daddy, Johnny, Grandpa, Grampy, Papa and Pop-pop and brother. He shared 36 years of marriage with his wife, Randy, and combined they had 7 children, John Jr and fiancée Bonnie, Scott, Nelson and wife Dionne, Bonnie and husband Matt, Tammy and husband Jim, Brandi and husband Elijah and Erica and husband Troy; 9 grandchildren, Stacey, Vanessa, Shayne, Brendon, Jim, Courtney, Alexa, Raquel and Luke; 3 bonus grandchildren, Lance, Robyn and Ashley; 6 great grandchildren, Prince, Boston, Elton, Ayla, Nyah and Harrison John; 3 bonus great grandchildren, Tatiana, Ariana and Natalee; sisters, Rose Pelletier, her husband Ed and Pamela Pelletier and her husband Peasoup. He also leaves the mothers of his children, Gail Russell and Etta Sears. He will forever be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death and reunited with his brothers, Daniel, James, Clinton, Harold, Percy and Peter and sister, Wanda. Please join us in celebrating his life by wearing bright colors as he was the brightest person in many people’s lives from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Hampton United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.
