John David Landers Sr.

Seabrook- John David Landers, Sr., of Seabrook, NH passed away on April 21, 2026, after a brief illness. John was born on May 21, 1950, to parents Chester and Lois (Morgan) Landers in Chelsea, MA. He graduated from Malden Vocational High School in 1969. Growing up he worked part-time at his father’s dry-cleaning business. In 1969, after graduation, John enlisted in the United States Army. During his time in the Army he was a cook, drove tanks and worked on the Nike Hercules Missile. Also, during his time in the Army, he lived in two different cities in Germany with his family. John rose to the rank of Spec 5 prior to leaving the Army in 1975 when he was Honorably Discharged. In 1967, John met the love of his life, Ann-Marie (Zunino). Ann or Annie, Ann-O or NiNi as she was referred to often would become his wife of 56 years. Ann would describe John as a sharp dresser and great dancer. They went on to have four children, James, Jennifer, Travis and John Jr... They lived in Germany during his time in the military. They travelled the world together to places like Italy, France, Ireland and England. After leaving the Army and returning to Massachusetts, John attended cooking school at the Fanny Farmer School of Cooking. John worked as a Machinist at GE in Lynn prior to moving to Amesbury, MA and opening a restaurant, John D’s Deli, which operated for approximately 20 years. After the closing of the restaurant, John went on to work as a finish carpenter and woodworker. He specialized in custom kitchen cabinets. The many pieces of furniture he built are in his family home and children’s homes. John’s interests outside of the restaurant involved mountain biking, photography and woodworking. When he was a child, he learned how to play the accordion and played it for several years for his friends and family. He spent countless hours making the craft visions of his wife, Ann, come to life. For those who did not know, John’s favorite band/musician was Pink Floyd. If you visited his woodshop over the years, you would hear, Pink Floyd’s Delicate Sound of Thunder played on a loop at a deafening level. John was a fan of all music and spent countless hours watching concerts on YouTube. If you happened to visit his home and he wasn’t watching Pink Floyd: The Division Bell on surround sound with his newest stereo equipment, he was probably watching or reading about World War 2. He was always reading a book about World War 2. If asked about World War 2 he could answer any question due to his vast knowledge on the subject. During Thanksgiving, he would play the History Channel’s “TANKS giving” in the background. He was also an avid dog lover. John was predeceased by his parents Chet (Grump) and Lois (Nan), his older sister Patty and his eldest son, James (Jimmy). John is survived by his wife Ann-Marie of 56 years and his three children, Jennifer, Travis and John Jr. A daughter, Jennifer McCue and her husband Scott of Tewksbury, MA. A son, Travis Landers and his wife Randi of Seabrook, NH and his other son, John Landers Jr. and his wife Lynn of Wakefield, MA. He was known as Papa to his five grandchildren, Ariana, Maddilynne, London, Travis Jr. and Jack (John III). In addition, he is survived by his two brothers, Daniel Landers and his wife Theresa of Rochester, NH and Thomas Landers and wife Trina of Everett, MA. Along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
