Joseph T. Jaquez

Rye – Joseph T. Jaquez, 89, of Rye, died Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover with family by his side. He leaves his wife Marie (Cannon) Jaquez with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. He was born August 27, 1932 in Blanco, New Mexico a son of the late Edulijere and Amalia (Munoz) Jaquez. He graduated from high school in Sanford, CO in 1950 then soon enlisted in the military serving in the Korean War with the US Navy for nearly four years and later with the US Army for three years receiving his honorable discharge in 1957. He graduated from Worcester, MA Junior College in 1959. Joe spent his working life as a sales representative securing freight transportation contracts for the trucking industry. He retired in 1997 and enjoyed his retired life completely, playing golf and occasionally enjoyed wagering on race horses. Joe was a friend of Bill W. for 46 years and he helped many men recover from addiction. "Joe was a man of strong faith and was honored to serve as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was a devoted fan of all New England sports. Joe also was an avid reader; frequently visiting his local library." In addition to his wife, he leaves three children Michael Jaquez and his wife Jackie and their son Dylan of Oceanside, CA, Martin Jaquez and his wife Kellie and their daughters Nicole and Casey of San Diego, CA, Patrice Lyons and her husband John and their daughters Jessica and Casey of Worcester, MA, daughter in law Angie Jaquez of North Conway, NH, six step children, James Griffin of Newburyport, MA, Daniel Griffin and his wife Violeta and their children Daniel and Isabella of Wethersfield, CT, Brian Griffin and husband Jack of Wilbraham, MA, Kathleen Griffin and her daughter Morgan of Fort Myers, FL and Christy Bergeron and her son Shawn of Dracut, MA, Sean Griffin and his wife Danielle and their children Owen and Olivia of Lynnfield, MA. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Mark Jaquez in 2018. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be at 11 A.M. Friday, November 19, 2021 in the Agawam, Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
