K. Jeanne McMahon

Rye, NH – K. Jeanne McMahon, 91, of Rye, passed away peacefully Monday, May 26, 2014, at Webster at Rye. She was born in Thompsonville, CT., June 7, 1922 a daughter of the late Charles H. and Kathryn (Shea) Sheridan. Raised in Thompsonville, Jeanne graduated from Windsor Locks High School with the Class of 1940. Jeanne married her late husband of 46 years James N. McMahon in 1944 and moved to Rye, where they made their home for the next 57 years. She first worked as a night switchboard operator at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel in New Castle and later at the Portsmouth Hospital. Jeanne then started her career as a bookkeeper for Tony’s Radio and TV in Portsmouth, before retiring in June 1987 after 20 years. Jeanne was a communicant at Saint Theresa Church, Rye Beach, since 1979. She was a member of SHARE, a Saint Theresa Church group that raised money for Mother Teresa's Missions. She was also a Cub Scout den mother, a member of the Rye Over 55 Club and a member of the Kittery Art Association. She was most of all a devoted homemaker, who enjoyed knitting, painting, baking, traveling with her sister and spending time at the beach, especially Jenness State Beach in Rye Beach. Jeanne is survived by her sons, Jim McMahon, Michael McMahon both of Rye, Patrick McMahon of Hampton; daughter Jeanne Moynahan and her husband Ken of Rye; sister Charlene Kearns and her husband Bill of Windsor Locks, CT; grandchildren, Jennifer Hordon, Tim Moynahan, Brian Moynahan, Anna Moynahan, Kathryn McMahon, Jesse McMahon, Sarah McMahon, Dana McMahon, Joseph McMahon, Matthew McMahon, Kelley McMahon; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanne was predeceased by her brothers, John “Bud” Sheridan, Robert "Ed" Sheridan and sister Eleanor Hines. Visiting hours will be from 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM on Friday, May 30, 2014 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home – Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd., Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Rd., Hampton. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, Rye. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in Jeanne's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
