Lawrence "Larry" W. Brown

Boxford, MA - Lawrence “Larry” Brown, Sr., age 74, of Boxford, MA, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024, in the way he wished to do, peacefully in his home alongside family and friends. Born in Massachusetts, Larry Sr. was a son of the late Arthur Brown and Phyllis (LeBlanc) Brown. He loved all machinery large and small and has been referred to as a never-ending source of valuable knowledge. Most would say there wasn’t a thing Larry couldn’t fix with his brilliant mind and his own two hands. His career was spent in lightbulb machine manufacturing at Osram/Sylvania. His experience and skills offered many opportunities including a trip to Germany to set up a new shop and train staff. He often talked fondly of his many coworkers and was known to do things his own way. Though he officially retired from Osram/Sylvania at the age of 65, he never really stopped working. He went on to other various jobs, driving trucks and plowing. He loved landscaping his beautiful Boxford property and helping his children with projects in their homes. He had an outstanding collection of tools he would never hesitate to lend out. He loved model trains and often talked about dreams of building replica cities for his collection. When he wasn’t working in the garage or in his yard, he was spending time with his fun-loving companion Theoni Sgouros Solano around the house, traveling to Florida or spending time at their campsite. He could also be found visiting his children and grandkids, “shooting the breeze” with his beloved neighbors, or simply snuggled up with his little dog, Bear, watching programs on history, racing, or how-to tutorials. In addition to Theoni, he is survived by former wife, Andrea (Gaudet) Brown and their children, Larry Brown, Jr., Brandon Brown and Kimberly (Brown) Deane. Beyond that, his family includes Brandon's wife, Julie Moran; Kimberly’s husband, Stephen Deane; his grandchildren, Colby, Lincoln, Frances, Louisa and Sylvia; He was the brother of Sandy (Brown) Blair and Scott Blair. He was also an uncle and cousin to many and the most reliable friend you’d ever want to meet. His Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 25th, from 12-4pm at the Coolidge Building at the Topsfield Fairgrounds.
