Lynda C. Manter

Greenland - Lynda Cecile Manter, 66, died April 26, 2015 with her family at her side. Lynda was born May 23rd, 1948 in Montreal, Canada. She grew up in Swanton, Vermont with her 5 brothers and sisters, Claude, Roland, Dianne, Mark and Reneé Prairie. After surviving the nuns at St. Anne’s Academy, Lynda rode her motorcycle to (MGH) Montreal General Hospital, for school to become a registered nurse. After school she took some time off to backpack across Europe with two dear nursing friends. Later she met her future husband, Frank Manter, on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. Frank and Lynda got married and moved to Acton, Mass., where they raised their three sons: Bryan, Ian and Darren. Lynda took time away from her nursing career to raise her boys, supporting them and advocating for them tirelessly. As the boys entered elementary school, Lynda cleaned houses during the day for additional income and flexibility to be home to receive the boys off the bus and to help with the extracurriculars'. Lynda later went back to work full time at a nursing home as a nurse manager and then as a hospice nurse after the family relocated to Exeter. Lynda and Frank recently moved to Greenland where they renovated Frank’s great grandfather’s farm which is to be their retirement hobby farm. Lynda was passionate about her family, her vegetable and flower gardening, being outdoors, going for nature walks, bird watching, her cats and dogs, her arts and crafts, rug hooking and all of her friends she made along the way, but above all her two grandchildren Emerson and Liam. Visiting hours will be from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Greenland Community Congregational Church, 10 Post Road, Greenland. Burial will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Greenland. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
