Marie Theresa Jaquez

Rye - Marie Theresa (Cannon) Jaquez, 81, of Rye, NH, passed away peacefully at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA on Monday, February 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph T. Jaquez and shared 35 years of marriage with him until his passing in 2021. Born in Springfield, MA on November 26, 1943, Marie was the daughter of the late Daniel and Bertha (Sicard) Cannon. Marie attended Our Lady of Hope Elementary School before matriculating to Springfield’s Cathedral High School. After graduation, she worked as a dental assistant before marrying and raising her family. Marie is loved and survived by her sons, James Griffin of Newburyport, MA, Daniel Griffin and his wife Violeta of Wethersfield, CT, Brian Griffin and his husband Jack Swan of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Sean Griffin and his wife Danielle of Lynnfield, MA, daughters Kathleen Griffin of Bonita Springs, FL, and Christine Bergeron (Griffin) of Dracut, MA. Her greatest love was for her grandchildren, Morgan, Shawn, Daniel and wife Hannah, Isabella, Owen, and Olivia. Marie was especially close to her loving sister Eileen Ziomek (Cannon) and her husband Henry and their family, as well as her sister-in-law and confidant, Constance Griffin. She also leaves a loving extended family including nephews, nieces, and cousins. Marie was exceedingly generous and kind, always thinking of others. She was close to and thankful for her wonderful neighbors and friends. She was predeceased days ahead of her death by her longtime friend since childhood Alice Syrjala (Fitzgerald). She leaves close friends Barbara Icovitti and Ron St. Peter. Marie held an extremely strong faith in Jesus. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Hampton and previously at St. Patrick’s Parish in Jaffrey, NH where she was active volunteering at the parish school and at parish events. For many years she assisted her co-workers as HR Administrator at Millipore Corp. in Jaffrey where she retired in 2006. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Marie for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Marie will be laid to rest beside her husband at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
