Martha "Marty" Nati Shachook

Seabrook -Martha "Marty" Nati Shachook of Seabrook, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully August 21, 2026, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Marty was born in Meriden, Connecticut, on August 4, 1951, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Lewis) Nati. She graduated from Platt High School in 1968 and earned her nursing license from the Hartford School of Nursing in 1970. This marked the beginning of a fulfilling nursing career that was built alongside raising her son, Michael. She was deeply proud of her son, Mike, his many accomplishments, and his military service. For 25 years, Marty served as a nurse alongside Dr. Peter Dourdoufis in his Newington and Portsmouth, New Hampshire offices. They were an extraordinary team, sharing a partnership until her retirement, and a friendship that lasted a lifetime. With her organizational skills and a wonderful blend of humor, she lovingly but firmly kept Dr. D. moving from one exam room to the next. To her patients, Marty was the reassuring voice on the other end of the phone, a person who helped them understand their medications, and a comforting, non-judgmental presence who celebrated every milestone in their health journey. Guided by her Catholic faith and spiritual devotion, Marty’s career as a nurse was an extension of her calling to care for others with compassion and grace. Nineteen years ago, Marty met the love of her life, her husband John, and together they lived life with passion and purpose, traveling from one event to the next. A woman of many interests, she was a lifelong sports fan who loved cheering on the Boston Celtics, the New York Yankees, and the University of Connecticut Women’s basketball team. As a dedicated NASCAR enthusiast, she regularly traveled to speedways across the country to root for her favorite drivers, Bill and Chase Elliott. When she wasn't on the road traveling to a sporting event, she loved channeling her creativity into quilting, scrapbooking, and cooking. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Shachook of Seabrook; her son, Michael Maietta of San Marcos, Texas; her brother, Frank Nati (Gail) of Melbourne, Florida; her sister, Joanne Cannata (Brian) of Meriden, Connecticut; her sister-in-law, Judy Nati of Hohenwald, Tennessee; and her beloved cat, Rebecca. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth (Lewis) Nati, and her brother, John Nati of Hohenwald, Tennessee. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her former daughter-in-law, Samantha Maietta of Salado, Texas. Throughout her life, Marty ran an incredible race. She lived with a full tank of generosity and warmth, navigated life’s turns with grace, and has now parked in Victory Lane. Her legacy of kindness, tireless dedication, and unmistakable smile will live on in the grateful community she served, and her steadfast friendship will remain forever in the hearts of the cherished friends she leaves behind. To love Marty was a privilege; to be loved by her was life-changing. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Marty for a period of visitation on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.
