Matthew Joseph Talas

Salisbury, MA - Matthew J. Talas, a devoted family man, proud U.S. Army veteran, and lifelong learner, passed away peacefully leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and creativity. Matthew honorably served his country as a U.S. Army Tanker during the Gulf War. His military service instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and patriotism that he carried throughout his life. Following his service, Matthew demonstrated his characteristic work ethic by earning his Master’s degree through years of attending night school, a testament to his determination to provide a bright future for his loved ones. While Matthew achieved much professionally and academically, his greatest joy was his family. He completely adored his family and cherished every moment spent with them. He was the beloved husband of Ilona, with whom he shared a life filled with mutual devotion and deep companionship. He was a loving and supportive father to Kevin, Nicole, and Curtis. Matthew is now reunited in peace with his beloved son, Mark, who predeceased him. His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Aydin, Samantha, Matthew, Katelyn and Eli, who brought immense happiness to his life. In addition, he leaves behind his mother, Ann Beals, his father, Peter Talas, Sr and wife Patty, siblings; brother, Peter and his wife Jennifer, sister, Alethea and her husband Matthew and brother Luke. In addition to his immediate family, Matthew leaves behind a large extended family, including his nephews, Cole, Sean and Alex, niece, Alana, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Outside of his dedication to his family and work, Matthew was a man of artistic passion. He possessed a keen eye for beauty, which he expressed through his love for art and photography. Whether capturing a family moment behind the lens or creating through his artwork, he saw the world with appreciation and shared that beauty with everyone around him. Matthew’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Matthew for a period of visitation on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A memorial service will take place immediately following the visitation at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
