Michael W. David

Acton, ME - Michael W. David, 67, of Acton, formerly of Salisbury, passed away after a courageous 2 year battle with colon cancer. He was born on December 27, 1957 in Newburyport, MA. He was the son of Sylvia (Fish) Gurin of Rangeley, ME and her husband Arthur Gurin who passed away from Covid complications and his biological father the late Wayne David. Recently Michaels mother moved to Acton, Maine after her husband’s passing to be closer to her sons, grandchildren and any other living relatives, and living friends. Michael grew up in Salisbury, Massachusetts and graduated from Triton High School, in Byfield, Massachusetts in 1976. Michael loved and adored his family very much. He leaves behind his two adult sons, Joe David of Sanbornville, NH and Andrew David of Portland, ME and their mother Susan Sarty who passed in 2022; grandchildren, Angelina David, Joseph David Jr., who are the children of Joe and his wife Christine, Bailey David and Charlotte David who are the children of Andrew David and Annie Berube. Michael also leaves behind his significant other Diane Hansen and her three daughters. Mike was especially close to Josephine “Jojo” and considered her to be the daughter he never had. He also leaves behind his 2 dogs Larry and Frankie, who laid by his side during his last days; brother Steve David and his wife Lisa and their sons, Casey, Patrick and the latest additions to the family. Also, mourning the loss of Michael is his sister Racheal David and her children. In addition to his biological father Wayne, he was predeceased by his grandmother Marie David, grandfather Arthur (AJ) David the founder of David’s Fish market who were all from Salisbury, Massachusetts. He worked for many years at David’s Fish market in Salisbury, Massachusetts to support, and raise his two sons. They didn’t have much money but they always managed to do something exciting and fun with their dad. Fond memories like ice fishing, fishing on Wayne's boat with their uncle Steve, and Grampy Wayne, hunting, taking trips to Rangeley or taking the dog Teddy to Footes Ice Cream. He later started working at Keiver-Willard Lumber Corporation in Newburyport, Massachusetts where he retired from at the age of 62. He purchased the David family Farm in Acton, Maine in 2001 and enjoyed the 60 acre lot to do hobbies like gardening, planting, as well as hiking, and hunting. He was a simple man who didn’t have a need for nice, flashy or expensive things. He was very laid back, friendly and was known to have a great sense of humor at times. He enjoyed scaring the critters out of his garden, walking his land with his mother enjoying nature and all its beauty and offerings. He also enjoyed having a cup of tea with his mother in the morning helping her with puzzles. Michael just wanted to live his remaining days on his side by side and John Deer lawn mower he just purchased and was so proud of. Visiting hours will be held from 4 - 7 pm on Monday June 9, 2025 in the Remick& Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 10th in the Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
