Michael L. Klein

Michael L. Klein, 83, of Seabrook and formerly of Newburyport and Salisbury, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 31, 2022. Michael was born on August 6, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Emmanuel “Manny” K. and Shirley (Shaefetz) Klein. Michael was raised in Brooklyn and when he was a teenager, the family relocated to Newburyport. After graduating from Newburyport High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country as a crewmember onboard USS Severn (AO-61). He met Elizabeth Coffen in high school and upon his discharge from the Navy, he and Betty were married and settled in Salisbury, MA to raise their family. He went to work for the former Massachusetts Electric Company as a utilities worker where he retired after more than 35 years with the company. Upon retiring, Michael moved to Seabrook in 2010 with his second wife Maureen (Meile) Klein. Michael was a kind and generous man who would help anyone in their time of need. He had many dear friends whom he loved to stay in touch with over the years. He was a huge fan of the Drum & Bugle Corps and loved following them whenever he got the chance. Michael also enjoyed visiting the casinos, especially Oxford Casino and The Brook. Michael is survived by his longtime companion, Donna Adams of Newburyport, his daughter, Deborah Mason and her husband Richard of Haverhill, MA, his son, Jason Klein of Texas, his stepdaughters Tracie Durant and her husband Todd of Derry, NH, Kim Lafave and her husband Rick of Exeter and Renee Parent-Vass and her husband Jerry of Haverhill, MA, his grandson, William Pierce and his great granddaughter, Rheya Pierce. He also leaves his beloved sisters, Roslyn Maguire and her long time companion Richard Dyston of Salisbury, MA and Ann Dow and her husband, Ray of East Kingston, his sister-in-law Maureen Klein of Beverly, MA and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Elizabeth (Coffen) Klein, his second wife, Maureen (Meile) Klein and his brother, Jeffrey Klein. Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd., Hampton, NH 03842. Services will follow the visitation starting at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 AM on Wednesday at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH 03303.
