Patricia E. Stetson

Kittery, ME – Patricia E. Stetson, 78, of Kittery, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2017 at her son’s home, surrounded by loving family. She was born in Biddeford, ME on September 14, 1939 a daughter of the late Glenn and Rena (L’Heureux) Gilpatrick. Raised in Manchester, she went on to graduate from the Elliot Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She briefly worked at the St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, before dedicating her life to raising her family. Later in life she went back to work at the Rye Library in Rye, NH, and then for the family business, Spurwink Cord in Biddeford, ME, finally retiring after working at Sweetser Medical Services in Kennebunk/Saco, ME, in 2005. Patricia was an avid reader, who loved the ocean, playing Scrabble with her neighbors, tole painting, and knitting, but her greatest joy was spending time with family. Surviving family members include her children, Michael Stetson and his wife Cathi of Portsmouth, Julia Missal and her husband Ed of Mountain Top, PA and Andrea Tennancour and her husband Shane of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren, Nicole and Kayley Missal and Samantha and Isabella Ruffer; former husband and friend, David Stetson of Portsmouth; several nieces, nephews and 3 grand puppies, Bella, Sophie and Winnie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Catherine Elizabeth, brother, Larry Gilpatrick and sister, Nancy Gilpatrick. Patricia’s family would like to offer a special thank you to all the staff at the Portsmouth Hematology and Oncology Assoc., especially Dr. “Mina” Cabalona for the extraordinary care and kindness given during such a difficult time and the staff at PRH Infusion Center, especially her nurse Michelle for her all her support and friendship. We could not have made it through these short seven months without them. All services will be private.
