Phyllis D. Farrell

Nottingham – Phyllis D. Farrell, 80, of Nottingham, formerly of Dunkirk, NY, died peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014 at her daughter’s home after an extended illness. Phyllis was born October 6, 1934 in Bainbridge, NY, a daughter of the late Everett and Elizabeth S. (Dunckell) Branham. Raised in Bainbridge and Oxford, NY, Phyllis was an honor student and graduate of Oxford Academy and the Central School in Oxford, Ahead of her time, Phyllis was schooled in computer technology in the early days of computers and had held programming positions in Syracuse, NY, McMinnville, TN, Richmond, VA and Boston, MA. After a successful career she retired to Dunkirk to be near family. While in Dunkirk, she was an 11-year communicant of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and served on many committees. Her community at Holy Trinity was very dear to her and a central part of her daily life. Phyllis was a talented singer and sang in the Choir at St Linus church in Natick, MA for many years. Her intelligence, sense of humor and loyalty were extraordinary as well as her generosity and charity. She loved animals and adventure and was always up for a road trip. She was a loving mother, a fantastic grandmother and great grandmother, a devoted sister and a dear friend. Phyllis will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Phyllis is survived by her children, James Farrell and wife Nina of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Timothy Farrell and wife Jill of Lake Luzerne, NY, Jacqueline Terrill and husband Doc of Fredonia, NY and Carolyn Farrell Kelleher and husband Ken of Nottingham; her beloved grandchildren, Eric, Christopher, Shannon, Sean, Kelly, Ryan and Brianna and their spouses; her great grandchildren, Esther, Edythe, Riley, Alex, Logan and Charlotte; her sister Dorothy Simmonds of Binghamton, NY and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her parents, her son, Thomas J. Farrell, her brothers, William and George Branham and her sisters Elizabeth Brock, Mary Louise Sipple, Barbara Shaver and Margaret Branham predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Rd., Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private.
