Raelene N. Duggan

Wells, ME – Raelene N. Duggan, 87, of Wells, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2022 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital with family by her side. She was born in Newburyport, MA June 22, 1935 a daughter of the late Harry V. and Elizabeth A. (Currier) Noyes. Raelene was raised in Newburyport and Newbury and graduated from Newburyport High School with the Class of 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, John W. "Jack" Duggan in 1954 and they raised five children together. She was employed as the secretary at the First Baptist Church of Newburyport for 20 years where she was also a member and active in the church choir. She retired from New England Telephone in 1998 with ten years of service as a telephone operator. She made her home with her daughter and granddaughter in Wells the past 22 years coming from Newburyport and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wells with her family, enjoyed gospel music, knitting, spending time with her family and her fur-babies, reading, visiting and phone chatting with sister Cilla, and was known for making a mean wacky cake. She cherished her trips with family to Ireland, Wales, and to Campobello Island, Canada. She leaves four children, Michael Duggan and his wife Ann Marie of Amesbury, MA, Philip Duggan and his wife Brenda of Milbridge, ME, John Duggan and his fiancée Cathy Yeager of East Wakefield, NH, Kelly Duggan and her partner Peter French, 11 grandchildren: Bridget, Michelle, Marcia, Michael, Fionnula, Kaitlin, John Jr, Kyle, Sean, Julia, Christina, 8 great grandchildren, her sister Priscilla Price of Newburyport, several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and lifelong friends Thomas and Jackie Bateman, and Fay Greaney. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by husband John W ."Jack" Duggan in 1998, her son David Duggan in 2021 and siblings H. Verne Noyes, III, Elizabeth Reed, Paula Schrempf and longtime friend Carol Guerin. After cremation private interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the North End Boat Club (upstairs), 282 Merrimack St, Newburyport, MA. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
