Seabrook – Ramona Frances “Mona” Gallagher, 92, of Seabrook, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, after a period of declining health. Her beloved family was at her bedside. Ramona was born on July 1, 1930, in Seabrook, the daughter of the late Ernest “Buster” and Amy (Marshall) Perkins. Mona was raised in Seabrook and attended Newburyport High School. She gave birth to a son Dennis W. Perkins, Sr. As a single mother, Ramona held several jobs to support her young family, including positions at the former Barr & Bloomfield Shoe Company of Seabrook and tending bar at The Swan and The Shanty, both of Salisbury. She was a great provider for Dennis and worked extremely hard to ensure he had everything he needed. In 1965, she met and married her late husband, William A. Gallagher and they shared over 50 years of beautiful marriage until his passing in 2015. Mona and Bill enjoyed dancing at several local venues. When the two hit the dance floor doing the Jitterbug, the other dancers stopped and cheered them on, and all eyes were on them. Mona enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo, going to Foxwoods and Pokeno. Once a month she and her good friends would meet at her house on a Saturday to play Pokeno. When the word got out, there was an actual waiting list for a seat at her table. Mona was a sweet, caring and kind lady but she did not take any monkey business and when she gave “the look” her family better take notice. Her family was her greatest source of pride, and she loved spoiling all the kids whenever she got the chance. Her family will always cherish the memories of her holiday parties, her homemade bread, and her famous jello cake. She never missed an opportunity to talk to others about her grandkids and great grandkids; she loved them all fiercely. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dennis W. Perkins, Sr., and his fiancée, Beverly Eaton of Seabrook, her grandchildren: Denise Perkins-Hance and her husband, Yefri of Rochester, Dennis Perkins, Jr and his fiancée, Elizabeth Preston of Farmington, Michael Perkins and his fiancée, Heather Arsenault of Seabrook and Steven Perkins and his fiancée, Crystal Welch of Salisbury, MA. She also leaves her great grandchildren: Makenna Perkins, Hannah Hance, Joseph Perkins, Kason Perkins, William Perkins, Wyatt Perkins, Hunter Perkins, and Arya Perkins. Family and friends may visit from 11am to 1pm on Sunday, June 25 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home – Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd. Hampton. Services will follow the visitation starting at 1 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at 11am on Monday, June 26 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, on Storey Ave. in Newburyport, MA.
