Stan J. Nice

Rye - Stan J. Nice, 75, of Rye, formerly longtime resident of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully from complications of heart disease, August 21 2022 at Tuffs Medical Center in Boston, MA, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, November 21, 1946. He attended Hanover, PA schools and joined the service at age 17 serving as a medic in the US Air Force. While stationed at Pease Air Force base he met his true love Donna, marrying in December of 1967. Stan obtained an associate degree as a tool and die maker and retired from Pratt and Whitney after many years of dedicated service. Stan was a humble man who’s priorities were serving the Lord, cherishing his wife, and treasuring his children and grandchildren. We are honored to walk the legacy of a man who led a life guided by selfless and unconditional love for all whose lives he touched. Stan was a family man and his happiest hours were found attending the sporting events of his grandchildren, taking them fishing, watching Patriots games, smoking homemade kielbasa, and ultimately being surrounded by family at the dinner table. Stan was a person of faith and served Corpus Christi Parish throughout his life. He was active in the Knights of Columbus Council 140, serving in the Fourth Degree as a Faithful Navigator. An organization for which he tirelessly volunteered even as his body was failing him, his indomitable spirit did not. Stan had a passion for gardening and will be forever known on the seacoast for his "Stan's giant tomato" plants. Stan the tomato man took pride in his 2 lb tomatoes and friends and family enjoyed helping him eat them. Stan is survived by his loving wife and best friend Donna (LaCourse) Nice of 55 years, his children Keith and spouse Marianne Nice and their two children Cameron and Natalie Nice of Newmarket, his daughter Alena (Nice) Cusson and her husband Barry and their two children Lauren and Brayden Cusson of Eliot Maine, his brother Alan Nice and family from Pennsylvania, as well as several cherished in laws, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving father and mother, Stanley and Amelia Nice and his younger brother Paul Nice all of Wilkes-Barre PA. Visiting hours will be 4-6 pm Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home- Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A mass Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church, Corpus Christi Parish , 98 Summer Street, Portsmouth. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth.
