Stephen P Narkiewich

NEWBURY, MA – Stephen Paul Narkiewich, 64, of Newbury, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Maplewood Center in Amesbury after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved companion of Daryl Perkins for 44 years. Born in Woburn February 14, 1951, he was the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Bové) Narkiewich, whom he cared for many years. Stephen was a master stonemason, he worked for many union and non-union companies throughout the years, working on many sites from here to Boston. He helped build the Haverhill parking deck, Cedardale in Bradford, and the Groveland public buildings. For many years he owned and operated East Coast Masons, Inc., and was known for his beautiful custom stone & brick work and stucco finishes. He also raised and built foundations for many houses on Plum Island. In his younger years, he was quite adventurous, being an avid scuba diver, rock climber, pilot, hiker and mountain climber. He loved boats and planes and being outside. He and Daryl did a lot of traveling and camping over the years; one of his favorite places was Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. Together they explored the White Mountains, the Southwest, Prince Edward Island and Jamaica. He loved the ocean, and was always coming home from a dive in Rockport, giving lobsters to his neighbors. He always loved meeting new people wherever he went. He was especially fond of Plum Island and the people there, and loved to walk the beach with Sadie, his most-loved golden retriever. He was a kind and compassionate person, a very hard worker, always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need. He had a big heart, and always felt the need to stand up for the underdog when he felt injustice. He will be sorely missed by many people, and he bids a fond farewell to all his friends on Plum Island. In addition to Daryl, he is survived by two sons, Jason P. Narkiewich and Christian T. Narkiewich; one grandson, Christian, Jr.; his brother Edward Narkiewich of Sun Lakes, AZ, and his sister Susan Giroux of Chelmsford; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his close friends, who enjoyed his "nutty" and fun personality. A note from Daryl: My darling Stephen - you fought the brave fight, and you have climbed your last mountain, and are finally free from suffering. I will always miss your loving arms and your sweet smile - May God bless you and keep you close, you will forever be in my heart. Fly high my love. At Stephen’s request all services will be private.
