Thurley E. Leslie

Rye - Thurley Eileen (Smith) Leslie, age 95, passed away November 22nd, 2021, after a period of failing health. Thurley was a 1942 graduate of Searles High School. She enjoyed gardening, reading, antiquing, and traveling, but the love of her life were her grandchildren. Thurley was proud of all their accomplishments and overjoyed with her five great-grandchildren. Thurley lived most of her life in Methuen, MA and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Andover, MA for many years. She was a Brownie Scout Leader, a member of the League of Women Voters, and active in church fundraising events. Thurley loved to create fun birthday cakes and events for her colleagues. She enjoyed keeping in touch with friends and family. Thurley worked in order fulfillment at S.S. Pierce & Company in Boston, later held a similar role with Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington, MA and in her retirement worked seasonally for the Internal Revenue Service as a supervisor in the batching and numbering department. She is survived by her three daughters: Linda Colan and her husband Mark of Dover, NH., Sharon Rosenblum and her husband Andrew of Fox Point, Wi., and Roberta Orsini and her husband Samuel of South Berwick, ME.; her five grandchildren, Leah (Nate) Zientek and their children Olin and Alden, Francesca (Hillary) Orsini and their daughter Lillian, Adam (Carissa) Rosenblum and their children Leo and Ilsa, Jessica Orsini, and Seraphina Orsini. Thurley is predeceased by her parents, Jessie and Sidney Smith, her sister Ernestine Bennert, and her ex-husband, Charles E. Leslie. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the care givers at Benchmark Care Facility in Rye, N.H. as well as the nursing support provided by Beacon Hospice in Portsmouth, N.H. for all the wonderful care and support they offered Thurley and her family during her stay at Benchmark at Rye. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Beacon Hospice at 25 New Hampshire Ave., Suite 272, Portsmouth, NH 03801 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangments are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
