Walter S. Chawziuk

Exeter NH - Walter S. Chawziuk, 88, of Exeter, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lowell, MA on September 22, 1927, he was the son of Adam and Stanislawa (Giedyman) Chawziuk. He attended Lowell High School, Tilton Academy, Indiana State University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Boston University. A veteran of World War 2, Mr. Chawziuk proudly served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps., stationed on Midway Island. He co-owned Valentine & Chawziuk of Boston MA, a company that represented textile manufacturers. Previously he was the advertising manager for Bon Marche in Lowell, MA. A member of Vesper Country Club, in Tyngsboro, MA for many years, Walter loved playing golf. Winning the Club Championship there was one of his proudest accomplishments. He was also a lifelong, passionate fan of ALL the New England sports teams, never missing any of the action on TV or in the news. Walter was a devoutly religious man. He was a former communicant of St. Michael’s Parish in Lowell, MA and most recently, St. Theresa Parish in Rye Beach, NH. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Joan T. (Stowell) Chawziuk of Exeter, NH ; his three daughters: Johanna Chawziuk-Fisk of Farmington and Hampton, NH, Justine (Chawziuk) Mellynchuk of Portsmouth NH, and Laura (Chawziuk) Bonfanti and her husband James, of Andover, MA; three grandchildren: Tristan and Anna Mellynchuk and Kendall Bonfanti, along with his sister Blanche (Chawziuk) Atchley of Harrisburg, PA; nephews, John and Walter Atchley, and nieces Jill Shorter, Karen Mitchell and Gail Jackman. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Aubryn L. Atchley of Camp Hill, PA. Visiting hours are from 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Rd, Hampton, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, March 18, 2016 at St. Theresa Church, 815 Central Rd. Rye Beach, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
