Wayne Alden Kimball

Berwick - Wayne Alden Kimball was born September 14th, 1941, in Portland, Maine. He passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 84, after a valiant battle with blood cancer. He left this world the same way he lived much of his life: with a grin, a twinkle of mischief, and a story ready to be told. Wayne was raised in Portland, Maine by his parents Anna & Irving. He shared fond memories of living on Peaks Island and taking the ferry to get to school. After high school Wayne joined the U.S. Navy, where he learned discipline, camaraderie, and how to spin a yarn that would keep a bunk full of sailors laughing for hours. His navy years became a trove of tall tales—half-true, all entertaining—that he would retell at family gatherings and over drinks until everyone was in on the joke. Wayne loved to tease. He reserved that good-natured ribbing for friends and family, and he dished it out with affection; if you could take his teasing, you were part of the inner circle. His passions were as classic as he was. Wayne found peace on the water while sailing, joy on the road behind the wheel of a classic car, a creative drive for photography, a quiet focus on the golf course, the clack of billiard balls, a deep love of music, but most of all the steady companionship of his dogs. Even as illness took strength from his body, Wayne’s sense of humor and storytelling never dimmed. He found new audiences in hospital rooms and hospice chairs, trading memories and jokes, reminding those around him that the measure of a life is not only in its length but in the laughter and love left behind. We will forever remember the smile when the nurses would tell him how handsome he was. Wayne is survived by his wife Paula Kimball, son Dwight Kimball, daughter Dorena (Dee) Kimball & husband Michael, stepson Matthew Hill & wife Marianne, grandchildren: Ashlyn, Crystal & Fiancé Robert, Dale, Dwight Jr & beloved Kelsey, Kyle, Michael, Clayton & wife Lindsie, Joel & wife Britany, Amanda-Kate, Jason, Mike Anthony, great grandchildren Leah, Owen, Accaliah & Kinsly, several nieces, nephews & close friends, that will forever miss his teasing, his wisdom, and the way he made every room a little brighter. Wayne will be remembered by those who loved him for his quick wit and his ready advice. Wayne is preceded by his grandparents Rosa & George Kimball and Margaret & Michael Mcdonough, parents Anna M. Mcdonough & Irving L. Kimball, siblings: brothers Donald J., Dearborn J., Richard S, sister Iris B. and stepdaughter Amanda Hill. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday June 20th from 11:00-3:00 at the American Legion (Post #47), 551 Foundry St, Rollinsford, NH.
