William J. Darrigan

Hampton -William Joseph “Bill” Darrigan, 80, of Hampton, passed away unexpectedly, August 12, 2021. He was born in Elmhurst, NY on December 13, 1941. He was the second child of Andrew T. and Mildred T. (Taaffe) Darrigan. He attended St Bartholomew’s Grammar School and Newton High School in Queens, NY. In his early years he relocated to New Hampshire, as a Brother of the Franciscan Friary. He was no longer a New Yorker but a New Englander! Bill became a local electrician in later years, working with the changing technologies of the time-fiber optics, until he retired. He was proud to be a New Hampshirite in the Hampton area where he made his home until his passing. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, where he helped with the collection offering for years and made many friends. He enjoyed stopping by, conversing with his friends and local residents, discussing his trade and local Hampton events. His Sunday phone calls were always looked forward to. Always a Patriots fan! He loved it when they beat our NY teams and could brag! We looked forward to the comradery of Super Bowl Sundays! He was loved by his family, Bonnie Schreiner, nieces Jeanene Schreiner (Erwin Kooy), Cherylanne Schreiner, nephews Gregory Schreiner (Alice), David Schreiner (Stephanie), grandnephews Aidan and Jaron Kooy, Liam and Derek Schreiner. Survived by his other siblings Patricia Darrigan, Dennis Darrigan (Maureen), Andrew Darrigan (Cynthia), Jayne Cullen and nieces Jessica (Christopher) Menick, Lindsay Cullen and nephews Andrew (Heather) Darrigan and Thomas Darrigan. When thinking of Bill, remember him fondly with a simple smile or hello, he would have wanted you to pass on an act of kindness. In our hearts forever and always. Love you Brother Bill, Uncle Billy. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Friends are respectfully invited and also to a reception that will follow at the Galley Hatch Restaurant in Hampton. Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
