Hampton- William “Bill” Edward Murphy Jr., 69, of Hampton, NH, passed away on July 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with glymocastroma. A loving husband, proud father, doting grandfather, and tireless hustler, Bill lived a life rich with passion, humor, hard work, and heart. Born on June 21, 1956, Bill grew up in a lively and loving family alongside his siblings Gail, John, Kenny, Lillian, Estelle, Terry, and Kevin. He carried that same sense of loyalty and connection throughout his life most especially with his wife and business partner, Zoraya Murphy. Together they built a life rooted in love, grit, and more than a few great stories. Bill was the proud father of three children: Mary, Bill, and Kevin. But if you knew Bill, you knew his favorite role of all was “Pop.” He lit up at the mere mention of his grandchildren Rose, Grace, Elise, Ben, Emily, and Thomas. Whether it was giving them free rein at the beach store or bragging about their latest adventures, his love for them was boundless. He was also the proudest dog dad to Sugar who like Bill became a fixture and must visit while on Hampton Beach. Bill wore many hats over the years. His early love of cinema drew him into the movie theater business, where he forged lasting friendships and memories. He later became a proud clerk with the United States Postal Service famously mastering ZIP codes and finding joy in people try to stump him. That position gave him the stability and freedom to chase his true entrepreneurial spirit. From flea markets to the founding of his beloved BZ empire, Bill was always working on something usually with a little hustle, and a lot of heart. Hampton Beach was Bill’s sanctuary. Whether he was working the boardwalk as “The Wizard” selling light up toys on a Wednesday night or holding court at the corner store, Bill found his happiness in the sun, the sand, and the community he helped create. In his later years, there was no greater joy for him than seeing his grandchildren visit the beach and sending them off with arms full of souvenirs and smiles. Bill also had a deep love for baseball and spent many years coaching, shaping not just young athletes, but an entire era of local legends through the dynasty of Jake’s Auto Body. He was a coach and a true believer in the value of fundamentals and teamwork both on and off the field. Bill’s life was defined by generosity, perseverance, and laughter. He made friends wherever he went, always had a story to share, and never missed a chance to remind you how proud he was of the people he loved. He will be missed more than words can say, but his spirit will live on in every ZIP code recited, every perfectly made sub, and every night the boardwalk lights up just right. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Thursday, July 10, 2025 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at the Kingston Veterans Club 36 Church Street, Kingston, NH 03848 following church ceremonies.
