Alan W. Roach

October 3, 1945 - February 15, 2019

Rye – Alan William Roach, 73, of Rye, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 15, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Albert and Phyllis (Larrabee) Roach. Al leaves a wife, Marcia (Sanborn) Roach, two sons, Shawn and Eric, and a grandson Liam. Al was raised in Lynn, MA and graduated from Lynn English High School with the Class of 1963. He met and married the love of his life, Marcia (Sanborn) Roach, in 1970. In 1988, after working for General Electric of Lynn for 20 years and part-time as a Hampton Police Officer, Al and Marcia relocated from Peabody, MA to Hampton. While in Hampton, He and Marcia founded A&M Driving School which they operated from 1993 to 2010. Al served his community as a full-time Hampton Police Officer and Prosecutor from 1988 until his retirement in 2007. His hobbies included competitive skeet shooting and car collecting. He was most proud of his title as the New Hampshire 4:10 Shotgun Skeet Shooting Champion in 1992 and was an active member of the Minuteman Sportsman Club in Billerica, MA and the Danvers, MA Fish and Game. Al loved cars, especially his 1967 Chevelle SS and his 1966 Corvette which he enjoyed showing at the local car shows. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle around New Hampshire and during motorcycle week in Laconia, Daytona, FL and Sturgis, SD. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society .
