September 22, 1935 - June 30, 2018

Rye – Aurelie C. Amante, 82, of Rye, formerly of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at home with her loving husband at her bedside. She was born in Lawrence, MA September 22, 1935 one of 13 children to the late Thomas and Mary (Mulreany) Murphy. She was raised in Lawrence, graduated from St. Augustine’s Grammar School, St. Mary’s High School Class of 1953 and Merrimack College in 1958. She worked as a claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Bernardon Insurance in Andover, MA. From 1973-1982 she owned and operated Aurelie’s Dress Shop in Hampton, and retired in 1995 from Signal Capitol Corporation in Danvers, MA. Aurelie was a caregiver to her sisters, Helen and Catherine as well as her Aunt Lorraine and sister in law Emily. She was the confirmation sponsor to her nephew Chas and niece Courtney. She enjoyed sharing her ocean house at Plaice Cove in Hampton with her family and the many nieces and nephews in the summer months. She was a communicant of St. Theresa Parish in Rye Beach and was godmother to 13 children. She made her home in Rye since 2004 coming from Hampton where she resided since 1971. She shared 60 years of marriage with her husband Joseph Amante. In addition to her husband, she is survived by six siblings, Theresa Lonergan, Ann Martino, Monica Clancy, Bernadette Parsons, Andrew Murphy and Michaela O’Neil, 40 nieces and nephews and her 13 godchildren. She was predeceased by six siblings, Margaret O’Donnell, Thomas Murphy, Mary Jemlich, Catherine Kane, Helen Heseltine, and John Murphy. Her husband Joe would like to respectfully thank her special family friend Mary Ann Sewall for all her outreach, generosity and caring. She was the Angel in both Aurelie and Joe’s time of need. Visiting hours will be from 6-8 P.M. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Theresa Church, 815 Central Road, Rye Beach. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery Rye. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theresa Church for Food for the Needy.
