Stratham – Barbara Ann McDonnell, 81, of North Miami Beach, FL, formerly of Stratham, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Aventura Hospital in Florida. She was born in Lynn, MA on March 20, 1934, the daughter of the late Walter and Ardina Jackson. She was a devoted wife for 54 years to her beloved husband, the late Francis "Skip" McDonnell. They are together again. We lost the true matriarch of our family this week. Barbara spent most of her final years and days taking care of her family. She would want to be remembered as having bridged the gap for so many of the family; both near and far. While family was her true priority in life, her biggest passion in her later years was Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, something she shared with all of us on game day. No Sunday will be the same without her. She was an extraordinarily strong and brave human being who touched all of our lives and is finally free. Family members include her son, Michael McDonnell and his wife Katherine of Stratham; her seven grandchildren, Brandon, Crystal, Tara, Cheyenne, Hannah, Emily and John Ryan and her four great grandchildren, Trent, Allison, Leila and Dakota. She is also survived by her loving sister-in-law, Carmel O’Brien and her children Kerry Olofson and Neil O’Brien. She will be remembered by countless other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Jean Lanum. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2015 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd., Hampton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday at St. Michael Church, 9 Lincoln St., Exeter.
