Cheryl J. South

Stratham – Cheryl J. South, 72, of Stratham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 with family at her side. She was born February 20, 1949 in Denver, CO a daughter of the late William R. and Anna (Shattock) South. Raised in a military family she moved throughout the United States, but considered Portsmouth her home and later in life Stratham, where she raised her family. A longtime employee at Dinnerhorn in Portsmouth, she also worked security and was a supervisor for the Seabrook Power Plant during construction. Most recently she was an associate at Walmart in Portsmouth, where she made many lasting friendships. Family was of the upmost importance. She loved hosting family gatherings, where she would cook and bake enough food to serve an army. Surviving family members include her children, Scott South and his wife Dina of Portsmouth, Melissa Christie of Stratham, Chad South and his wife Marjorie of Hampton Falls and Jordan South of Dover; sister, Kelly Chaplain and husband Bob of Andover; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, William R. South Jr, All services will be private.
