Hampton Beach, NH – Daniel R. “Dan” Strange, 53, of Hampton Beach, formerly of Winchester, MA, died Thursday, August 6, 2020 at his home after a long battle with colon cancer. He was born on July 9, 1967 in Winchester, Massachusetts. Dan graduated from Winchester High School with the Class of 1985 and attended Western New England College in Springfield, MA with a concentration in law enforcement. Dan served in law enforcement as an Assistant Deputy Sheriff for Middlesex County and an Inspector for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. He served during the Trump campaign as an auxiliary Secret Service Agent and continued in that capacity after the President's election. He was a member of many law enforcement organizations, including the New England Police Benevolent Association (NEPBA). Dan was the Chairman of the NEPBA Charitable Foundation. He was also the Chairman of the NEPBA Scholarship Fund. Dan was an active supporter in all levels of politics. He was passionate about his time living at the beach, and enjoyed each and every day. His heart was always drawn to the beach where he enjoyed the ocean, concerts and, most importantly, creating special moments with his friends and family. Family members include his mother Roberta A. (Hackett) Strange of Winchester, MA, two brothers, Brian Strange and his wife Carla and their daughter Olivia of Tyngsboro, MA, Kevin Strange and his children Bryan and Jennifer Strange and their mother Michelle Paone all of Burlington, MA, two uncles Buddy Hackett and his wife Laurette, and Denis O’Donnell and his wife Claudia all of Gloucester, Aunt Geraldine “Gerry” Davidson of Chelmsford, MA, and Godmother M.A. Murray of Yarmouthport, MA. Dan was predeceased by his Nana Edith, Aunts Geraldine and Alice, as well as his Godfather Robert “Bob” Davidson. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Friday, August 14, 2020 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH. Please be aware that a limited number of people will be allowed in the church. Overflow will be accommodated. Social distancing guidelines to be followed and masks are required. There will be no visiting hours and interment will be private. In lieu of traditional remembrances, donations may be made to the Daniel R. Strange Memorial Scholarship at the New England Benevolent Police Association, Inc., 7 Technology Drive, Ste. 102, Chelmsford, MA 01803.
