Hampton - David Gilbert Desrosiers, Sr. passed away due to COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Oceanside Center in Hampton, New Hampshire, where he had resided since 2013. He was 68 years old. During his time at Oceanside, he would greet all the residents, staff, and visitors with a grin, an outstretched hand, and a friendly, “Hey, Buddy!” Throughout his life, he loved meeting people and listening to their stories, and he often left a meeting with a new friend. David was a lifelong resident of New Hampshire. He grew up on Allds Street in Nashua and attended Nashua public schools, where he was known as “Rosebush” and as a gifted athlete, especially in hockey. As a captain and MVP of his high school hockey team, he led them to many victories. His love of sports is something he carried with him throughout his life and passed on to his children. Anyone who knew David well heard him proudly tell of his brush with history at the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York, where he traveled with the Team USA men’s hockey team as part of his work with CCM. David worked closely with the team and witnessed their historic upset of the heavily-favored Soviets, which became known as the “Miracle on Ice,” after which they went on to win the gold medal. As an adult, David lived in Hollis, where he and his wife, Denise, raised their three children on the shores of Silver Lake. He is remembered as a loving family-man and loyal friend, who was happiest laughing and joking with loved ones and tending the grill at summer parties on the lake. He was active in town sports, coaching all of his children in Little League and proudly cheering them on at the many school sports they played. He was a business owner, most recently at Perfect Edge Pro Shop at Conway Arena in Nashua, where he also coached the Lady Panthers, an adult women’s hockey team, whose roster included his daughter. David was a proud and devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his three children and their families: his daughter, Cerissa Desrosiers, daughter-in-law, Jessica Hannon, and granddaughter, Phoebe Desrosiers; his son, David Desrosiers, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Angela Desrosiers; and his son, Jeffrey Desrosiers and granddaughter, Alina Desrosiers. He was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert Desrosiers and Rita Labombarde Desrosiers, and by his sister, Doris Desrosiers. It was important to David that his loved ones celebrate his life with a party, rather than a traditional funeral. Due to covid, such a celebration is not possible at this time; however, when it is safe to gather again, the family will host a party where everyone can raise a glass to David together.
