East Kingston – David S. Leach, 54, of East Kinston, left this world surrounded by family & friends on Monday, September 13, 2021. He had a very happy life with his wife, Christine, and children, Mags & Denzil. He graduated from Sanborn High School with the Class of 1985 and Plymouth State College in 1989 (cum laude) with a BS in marketing. His first job was at the Newton Greenhouse with his friends, Matt & Scott, his brother and his mother. He went on to work as manager for Osco Drugstore for 10 years, and later a 20 year career with CCMI designing subdivisions & septic systems, his greatest accomplishment was being a fantastic father to his children. David left Osco for a job closer to home that allowed him to attend every concert, sporting event and school activity. Dave taught Mags & Denzil to ski, fish, swim, play cribbage, golf, and how to build a fire. For 10 years, Dave built a haunted house in the garage with the help of his family & neighbors and welcomed trick or treaters for a free “tour of terror”. It is still the talk of East Kingston! Dave shared his love for nature and travel with his family. That love was fostered by parents with family vacations at Tunk Lake in Maine and 50 mile hikes with the Boy Scouts. Dave’s brother, Ken, did all the hikes with him and they shared chores around the house like cutting Cord Wood start to finish with their father, Arlyn. Dave’s mom, Elizabeth, and dad, Arlyn taught him to ski at 3 years old. The family had many years of skiing trips and camping during his youth. He played soccer, hockey and basketball throughout his years at Sanborn. Dave became a friend of Bill W. in 1993 and had 28 years of sobriety and spiritual growth. His extended family & the fellowship carried him through the last 2 years of his journey with glioblastoma (brain cancer). David is survived by his wife, Christine; children & son-in-law, Denzil, Mags & Jayden; his mother, Elizabeth; brother and his partner, Ken & Stuart; brother-in-law, Stephen; niece and nephew, Aislyn & Logan; mother & father-in-law, Dee & Jim; brother-in-law & wife, Greg & Femmie; nephew, Aaron, and many (many) cousins, in-laws, and friends. He will be remembered for his big smile, easygoing nature, Iron Man sized will power, and his unmatched ability to listen. His wife- whom he said had the same last name before marriage & was the most supportive, positive, fun, amazing, best partner anyone could ask for (he really did!)- will be forever grateful for him and miss him in every moment. He really was the better half in every relationship. Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, September 24, 2021 and a celebration of life at 11am on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Masks will be required. In lieu of traditional remembrances, donations may be made to the Glioblastoma Research Organization by clicking here or by mail to 2045 Biscayne Blvd #189, Miami, FL 33137.
