Elizabeth M. "Betty" Paquette
September 21, 1925 - January 5, 2021
Hampton – Elizabeth M. “Betty” Paquette, 95, of Hampton, former longtime resident of Manchester and Dover, went peacefully to God on January 5, 2021 at her home in the arms of her family. Born in Boston, MA on September 21, 1925 to the late James P. and Mary M. (Lavery) Martin, she was the eldest of three, followed by the late James Martin and the late Mary Morin. Raised in “The Fields” in Manchester by her maternal grandparents from Connemara Ireland, she attended McDonald School and graduated in 1943 from St. Joseph High School for Girls. Marrying in 1951, she shared fifty-seven wonderful years with her beloved late husband Theodore “Ted”, following his return from serving in WWII. They raised their family with unwavering love. Betty was selflessly devoted to her seven children and six grandchildren with whom she cherished spending time going to the beach, sewing, knitting, doing jigsaw puzzles, and braiding her award-winning rugs. Betty and Ted enjoyed some of their best years as members of St. Anne Parish, working on parish fundraising functions from bingo to bake sales, making many lifelong friends. Betty served her community as an elected representative to the Manchester Model Cities Program and other civic services. She was employed by the Manchester City Clerk’s office and by ERA the Brokerage as a licensed real estate agent. Betty lived her life with kindness and generosity of spirit, never complaining, never speaking ill of others. Her example will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her children: Deborah Gelston (Philip) of New York, NY, Donna Seigel (Fred), Martin Paquette (Lisa), Elaine McCarthy (William) all of North Hampton, Mary Ellen Hopkins (Christopher) of Franklin, TN, Pamela Paquette (John Noonan, dec.) of Hampton; by her grandchildren, Laura, Andrew, Julia, Anna, Emily and Samuel; as well as by her treasured sister-in-law, Mary Martin, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her dear daughter Paula. Betty’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her caregivers: Mary, LuAnn, Chelsi and Maria for their extraordinary care, their loving kindness and their passion in helping to enrich her later years. A visiting hour will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Monday, January 11, 2021 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH. Immediately following, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 815 Central Road, Rye Beach, NH 03871.
