George T. Berry

January 28, 1931 - March 30, 2022

North Hampton - George T. Berry of North Hampton, NH passed away March 30, 2022 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born in Portsmouth on January 28, 1931, the son of the late Ralph G. and Marjorie (Brackett) Berry. George was raised in the Creek section of Portsmouth and graduated from Portsmouth High School with the Class of 1949. Shortly thereafter he moved to Rye, NH where he lived for over fifty years with his wife and family. He was employed as an electrician with Local Union 490 and retired with over 30 years of service. He was a member of B.P.O.E #97 of Portsmouth and an avid golfer and member of Portsmouth Country Club. Family was the most important thing in George’s life. He shared over 69 years of marriage with his wife Arlene E. (Adams) Berry. In addition to his wife, Arlene, he leaves two daughters, Laurie Sweet and her husband, Alden, Denise Magnant and her husband Michael. Grandchildren: Ryan (and Kelly) Sweet, Joshua (and Amanda Nelson) Sweet, David (and Ivy) Magnant, Dana (and Chris) Pearl. Four great grandchildren Nora Sweet, James Sweet, Magnolia Magnant and Madison Pearl, and a sister, Marjorie Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, George T. Berry, Jr. in 1992 and sister, Genevieve Hauptman. A visiting hour will be held from 11 o’clock to twelve noon, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton, NH. Services will follow immediately at noon in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, Rye. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
