Jacqueline E. McGrath
March 31, 1938 - January 29, 2022
Newmarket – Jacqueline E. (Crooks) McGrath, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 29th, due to injury sustained in a fall. A long-time resident of Newburyport, MA, her birthplace, Jackie was well-known and loved no matter where she lived. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom McGrath Jr. and son, Steve McGrath. Survived by sons, Tom McGrath III and partner Sheila Fowler of Seabrook, NH, Joe McGrath and wife Karen of Amesbury, MA and David McGrath and wife Beth of Nottingham, NH; daughter, Jean Neely and husband Jeff of Raymond, NH; brothers, John Crooks and wife Anne of Davenport, FL and Richard Crooks of Merrimac, MA and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jackie had many interests in her life. She was a member of the Newburyport Rec bowling league, was a master knitter, and loved crafts of all kinds—ceramics, embroidery, plastic canvas—and was always busy doing something for others. She loved spending time with family and friends but was happiest seeing the world from the back of Tom’s motorcycle as they toured across the country. Many knew her from her years working for the Newburyport school system, as a Walmart greeter, or just tooling around Newburyport on her orange moped. She was a cheerful, outgoing woman, who touched the lives of many, and will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842 with services immediately following at 7 PM in the funeral home.
