Joan R. Deveney

October 24, 1932 - November 26, 2017

Hampton Falls – Joan R. (Caproni) Deveney, 85, of Hampton Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2017 with her loving and devoted family at her side. She was born on October 24, 1932 in Lynn, MA, a daughter of the late Henry Caproni and Marietta Palmer. Joan was raised in Lynn, MA and graduated from Lynn English High. She had worked at the Sears Store in Peabody, MA for many years and retired. She and her late husband, John F. Devaney, lived in Middleton, MA and Topsfield, MA before moving to Hampton Falls in 1989. Joan was very active with the Hampton Falls Free Library where she worked for over 20 years. She also enjoyed handcrafts, was very skilled at knitting and crocheting and was also a very talented artist. Her paintings and crafted pieces were often shared with her family and dear friends. Above all else, Joan loved her family and her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Darlene “Dee Dee” Rudd and her husband Chandler of Hampton, Joanne Hanson of Hampton Falls and Dale Bates and her husband Mike of Georgetown, MA, her son John Deveney of Topsfield, her sister Barbara Lucca of Hampton Falls and her sister-in-law Shirley Caproni of Peabody, MA. She also leaves her 9 grandchildren, Lisa DiPietro, Sean Rudd, Brian Deveney, Scott Rudd, Pauline Fabiano, Erin Stromski, Susan Rudd Cain, Ryan Hanson and Brady Hanson and her 12 great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. In addition to her parents and John, her husband of over 30 years, Joan was predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Robert Caproni and her daughter-in-law Kathy Deveney. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, November 29th in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home – Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd., Hampton. Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 30th in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hampton Falls. Family and friends are respectfully invited. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 289 Lafayette Rd., Hampton, NH 03842.
