Marsha Ann Plavnick

January 29, 1947 - October 9, 2018

Hampton - Marsha A. (Land) Plavnick, 71, of Hampton died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 surrounded by loving family. She was born on January 29, 1947 in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Ruth and Dr. William Land of Salem, NH. A 1964 graduate of Brookline High School in Brookline, MA, she was a 1968 cum laude graduate of Nasson College in Springvale, ME, and held a Master's Degree in Advanced Teaching from the University of New Hampshire. Married to Larry Plavnick on August 12, 1972 in Lawrence, MA, they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this past August. Marsha helped put Larry through law school, a near impossibility on a teacher's salary, so she left teaching for the world of Sales. For several years, she worked in the Hospitality industry, including serving as Director of Sales for the Parker House in Boston. Marsha was a bright, accomplished and well-respected businesswoman. 25 years ago, she founded the Marsha Land Plavnick Company, a sales organization in the Toy and Gift industry. Her major client was Sanrio, the manufacturer of the Hello Kitty line of products. As their exclusive New England representative, she traveled throughout the Northeast developing a large and loyal following of clients and friends. She became well known as Miss Hello Kitty, something for which she was remarkably proud. Marsha was also a supremely loving, sensitive and caring person. Although she did not have children, she loved her nieces, nephews and other children in her large extended family as if they were her own, including Eric and Bethany Nelson and their son Liev, of Wakefield, MA, Kevin and Jessica Donahue of North Reading, MA and their daughter Callie, Jennifer and Will Tasker of Everett, MA, and Chad Nussinow of Waltham, MA. She is survived by her husband Larry, of Hampton, NH and their dog Oliver and her sister and brother-in-law Bobbie and Carl "Bucky" Nelson of Londonderry, NH. A visiting hour will be held from 1 to 2 PM on Monday, October 15, 2018 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A service will immediately follow at 2 PM in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
